Students eagerly participated in conversations about feelings, kindness, responsibility, and respect. Many students began sharing their own experiences and learning new ways to express how they feel.\r\n\r\nThe calming corner has quickly become a valuable space in our classroom. Students are learning to recognize when they need a moment to regulate their emotions and are using tools such as the emotion fidgets, breathing star cards, plush buddies, and sensory toys to help calm their bodies and minds. The Play-Doh and hands-on activities have also been helpful during small group lessons, allowing students to practice emotional expression, creativity, and collaboration while staying engaged in learning.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these resources will continue to support our social-emotional learning lessons. We will use the books, games, and activities to help students build skills such as self-regulation, empathy, decision-making, and positive communication with others. Having the ability to print activities, visuals, and learning supports in color has made lessons more engaging and visually appealing, helping students stay motivated and better understand the content. These materials allow each student to receive the support they need according to their individual learning pace and abilities.\r\n\r\nStudents were very excited when they first saw the new materials in our classroom. The magnetic building tiles quickly became a favorite during learning centers, where students work together to build structures while practicing problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration. These hands-on activities encourage students to think critically and communicate with their peers while reinforcing classroom concepts in an interactive way. The Good Behavior Buckets also help reinforce positive behavior and encourage students to make good choices throughout the school day. This comfortable option makes reading feel enjoyable and inviting, encouraging students to spend more time with their books. The excitement around flexible seating has increased motivation, focus, and overall participation during both independent work and small group activities.\r\n\r\nFlexible seating has also been especially beneficial during state and district testing periods. Allowing students to sit in a space where they feel comfortable and supported has helped reduce anxiety and improve concentration. As a result, students have been able to sustain focus for longer periods and approach testing with greater confidence.\r\n\r\nOrganization has made a noticeable difference in daily routines as well. Students now keep their books neatly stored—either in designated book bins for one dual-language class or in chair pockets for the other—instead of having materials scattered across the floor. This system has created a more orderly and respectful classroom environment. Students are happier, take greater responsibility for their materials, and transitions between activities are much quicker and smoother.\r\n\r\nOverall, maintaining organized spaces combined with flexible seating has positively transformed our classroom culture.
