My goal as a teacher is to improve student experiences, student outcomes, and lifelong student success. All of the students in Alternative Education and Credit Recovery are completing online classes. Some have just one class to complete, while others may have a year or more to complete so that they can graduate. This means when there are 20 students in the classroom working online, there are 20 different lectures and paces that the students are moving. It is really difficult for students that already struggle with focusing to stay on task when there is that much noise and distraction going on at one time. I love that students will even come into my room and ask me if they can work in my room because it is so quiet. That is a great indicator that my students are engaged and focused on their classes and being accountable for their education. \r\nI have purchased out of pocket headphones each year but with limited funds and the quantity that I need, the quality diminishes. Because of your generous donations we were able to purchase 12 new headphones for our classroom and it has really boosted the ability of the students to not only focus, but concentration has increased and the students don't want to be tardy and miss-out on first choice of the new headphones. \r\nSome of the key impacts on learning are that headphones in online classes improves focus, they reduce distractions, and enhance the audio clarity which all boosts learning. Having good quality headphones for online classes also meets a lot of Special Education students with auditory processing needs. These students are in my classroom also and using the new headphones for their online classes. The students comment on how clear the sound is and I think they are understanding the lectures much better. They are excited about Reading now and making progress through their classes. \r\nThe impact of your donation has gone further than I ever expected, and I love sharing my new items with the students to use. My students and I thank you for your generosity and for choosing our classroom project for your donation. It really made a difference every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1770985107091,"projectUrl":"project/listening-and-learning/9940826/","projectTitle":"Listening and Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Kneifl","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2806001_orig.png?crop=547,547,x0,y98&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1701276019932","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2806001"},{"teacherId":9315719,"projectId":9688113,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations to provide LEGO sets for my students. Because of your kindness, every child was able to follow along during our read-aloud time with their very own copy. Having ownership of their own book made such a difference—students were more engaged, eager to read, and excited to participate. They are truly loving this story and look forward to reading it each day. Hearing their excitement, predictions, and reactions as the plot unfolds has been such a joy to witness.\r\n\r\nOur classroom discussions have been rich and thoughtful as we connected our learning to events in the story. We explored many social-emotional topics, including the feelings robots can or cannot have, as well as the emotions experienced by the animals in the book. These conversations helped students reflect on empathy, relationships, and understanding perspectives different from their own. We also tied the story into our geography studies, discussing setting, environment, and how location impacts the characters and their survival. Learning about nature through the book has been especially meaningful, as it closely connects to my students' Native American culture and their deep respect for the land, animals, and natural world.\r\n\r\nIn addition, students examined how characters change throughout the book and related this to how people can grow and adapt based on circumstances in their own lives. This opened the door to meaningful discussions around personal growth and resilience, along with various literary skills we practice in 4th grade. Your support made all of this possible, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity you've given our classroom. Thank you for investing in my students and their love of reading.","fullyFundedDate":1764780264980,"projectUrl":"project/the-wild-robot/9865455/","projectTitle":"The Wild Robot","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Peralez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10335966_orig.png?crop=178,178,x0,y24&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1765919119414","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10335966"},{"teacherId":9787166,"projectId":9771442,"letterContent":"My students were super excited to see the equipment you all sent us. They especially loved the shake table Engineering kits. We have been working with Newton's laws, energy transfer, and waves. We were able to use these kits for each of these areas. They were perfect for quick lab setup and cleanup, giving us more time to explore the concepts with the kits.\r\n\r\nThey also really enjoy the magnets. We are just starting to work with magnetic energy, but we used the magnets to play a game. We made a version of the magnetic chess attraction strategy game, and it was extra challenging because the magnets were shaped rather than magnetic stones. It allowed them to manipulate magnetic attraction and repulsion to gain an advantage.\r\n\r\nThe written curriculum support books have been great for helping me to differentiate our sometimes very difficult content. In some cases, it was advantageous for me to use the workbooks for reinforcement or enrichment. \r\nThank you so much for thinking of us and for helping me give these amazing educational opportunities to my students.\r\nWíbthahaⁿ!
