My co-teacher and I used the incentives to keep students on-track with their coursework. Students were much more likely to demonstrate positive behaviors by participating in class, helping others, putting phones away, and staying on-task. We use a visual board and students get their names recorded for doing positive things. It is an easy way that we, as teachers, can consistently reinforce the behaviors we love to see. \r\n\r\nThis was my thirtieth year teaching Reading and English to students with a variety of disabilities, and because of you, it was my absolute best year ever! Students are doing a much better job keeping track of their flashcards, and it has positive impacted the culture of my classroom. Students now understand that the words we learn together are a part of their vocabulary forever. Since we have the notecard sets, students are able to easily keep track of their flashcards in Ziplock bags. During first semester, we had a final that covered the 90 vocabulary words they learned throughout the semester. I saw dramatic score improvement over previous years. I teach students with learning disabilities, so this impact is huge for them. \r\n\r\nIt also builds their confidence to realize that they still retained the meaning of words from the beginning of the school year. We use the marker boards for a variety of vocabulary related games. It makes my class much for engaging and fun. \r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your generous!
