First, students got to enjoy listening to the 20 books read out load to them by me. Then they worked in groups of three. They took turns reading books out loud, and evaluating the book according to the ALA Caldecott guidelines. \r\n\r\nOnce the groups evaluated all 20 books, each student wrote a persuasive speech about which book they thought should win the Caldecott award. Each student gave their speech to the class. We then voted to get our top books. Then they voted one last time to get our winner, Partly Cloudy. \r\n\r\nWe also watched the ALA awards, where were saw many of the books we read win various awards and honors. Our winner didn't win, but one of our Honors books did receive and Honors award.
