They have one corner of my classroom that is completely dedicated to them and we have been working over the last four years to make it as effecient as possible. \r\nMy editor in chief is really excited about the printer cart because it cleared up space on the back counter and the computer stand by holding the printer and computer tower. Before we had the cart, the printer was constantly being moved to make room for other things. The computer tower was sitting on the floor and we were worried about it overheating. \r\nThe calendar has already been filled out and utilized multiple times. Last year we just had a calendar on the board that I constructed out of white board tape; this took up a lot of room on the classroom white board. With the magnetic calendar we are able to move it around the classroom if needed. It gives us the opportunity to do labs and observe some of these reactions and principles that we learn about. One example is our Le Chatelier Lab, as the students heat up an iodine and starch solution, they see the reaction shift out of equilibrium, and the solution goes from a purple/black to clear. \r\nWhen the students saw the hot plates they were excited to have new ones that would work better. Hot plates are expensive, so it is great to have some that will last a long time. They were also interested in the various functions on the hot plates. \r\nIn the future, my chemistry class will use the hot plates to analyze the water content in popcorn kernels. This is part of their thermodynamics unit, and water content in popcorn kernels is also the reason that not all the kernels pop in your popcorn bag!","fullyFundedDate":1758653624929,"projectUrl":"project/high-school-science-getting-hot-upgradi/9404693/","projectTitle":"High School Science Getting Hot! By funding this project you are helping our program update our materials so that we can more efficiently create yearbooks. \r\nThe SD cards that were donated made it possible for each student to have their own card that they use when they are out on assignment. The SD card holder provides a secure way for us to store these cards to prevent them from being lost or mixed up. The wireless mouse and keyboard made is possible for us to easily rearrange the desk so that it is more efficiently set up, and can be moved when not in use. \r\n\r\nThough we haven't used them yet, the students are excited to have the erasable pens to make corrections on spreads. We used the thank you cards to send thank you's to businesses who helped support our program by purchasing ads last year and it has already helped us secure some ad sales for this year. The desk has made a huge difference in organization availability for our editor in chief. The class as a whole appreciates how much nicer this desk is than our last one, both in functionality and in looks. Everything you donated, even if it wasn't mentioned specifically in this thank you, is very appreciated.
