You provided 50 books that will help countless students. These books help students learn to identify, regulate, and be able to communicate about big feelings that they have. The best part of these books are the grade appropriate way that it helps students. They use language that younger children understand. There are rhymes that help students remember breathing techniques that help them regulate big emotions. \r\nThe set of stuffed \"emotions\" that come with the books help students put a face on their emotions. The excitement was palpable when the students saw the new additions to our room. The rugs and comfy chairs have really improved our classroom environment. The students love to read curled up in the saucer chairs or stretched out on the rugs. The rugs have also provided a nice spot for small groups and the different colors have made assigning spots a breeze. \r\nSome of the original products were not available when I ordered, so we also received Mr. Scent markers, material tubs, and sight word magnets. The magnets provide a handy spot to check our writing before we submit it for editing. They have been arranged in alphabetical order on the wall and the kids have used them every day. The Mr. Scent markers are used when we do special coloring and they are a huge hit. The kids make sure to do their best work when they use the \"fancy markers.\" The material tubs will be so nice for when we do crafts. They also have the chance to take A.R. tests daily on the books they read. Students are working towards individually earning 75 A.R. points to make the A.R. Hall of Fame at the end of the school year. We also do daily reading lessons where we read texts in our reading curriculum that focus on a variety of topics. The students really enjoy any type of reading. Right now we are reading a historical fiction book. I start my students reading historical fiction then transition them into reading biographies. The books that you donated to our classroom are going to be the perfect transition in to students reading biographies about historical figures. The students will also be able to use these texts to write a report on the historical figure of their choosing.
