They were unbelievably grateful for the new furniture and rug. One of the students laid on the futon and read for 2 hours after school while waiting for her parents to finish a meeting with the office. \r\nIt was well loved between the time it arrived and the end of the school year. I can't wait to see how the incoming kids like it when it's all set up and ready for them. \r\nThe next step is for us to create a home away from home within the classroom for the incoming class. Something about middle schoolers is that when they first start middle school, there is a lot of emotions that they can't always name or know how to regulate. This reading corner will allow for them to have somewhere to escape to when they just need a minute. As a new teacher, it has been difficult to fulfill their wants and needs with books. We have a good start to our library already, however, there are obvious gaps that the kids are starting to notice. We have a great librarian in our school who allows the kids to check books out, but for the ease of it, it will be amazing to have some of their favorites, right here in class. \r\nWe also will be able to complete some amazing book studies and have wonderful literature circles in our classroom, with all the books we are receiving.
