For many of my students, working with clay is a completely new experience—a rare opportunity to step away from screens and paper to shape something with their own hands. The delight and anticipation in their eyes set the perfect tone for what has become one of our most favorite art projects of the year.\r\n\r\nWith these generous resources, my students dove headfirst into tactile creation. Students were so excited to transform simple balls of clay into expressive pinch pots. After learning the fundamental pinch-pot technique, they used the tools to carve intricate textures. Fifth grade added small, hand-rolled clay features to give each pot its own unique personality. Watching students who sometimes struggle with traditional academic tasks find complete focus and confidence while smoothing clay edges was incredible.
