The impact on my students was immediate. Just knowing that the project had the students excited and planning on how to use the ordered supplies with daily updates requested on what had arrived each day. Students are already using many of the supplies to build small robots, design and improve solar powered cars, make videos and podcasts about issues around the school and to encourage other students to try their hand at engineering and art. Knowing that people are willing to invest in their goals really encouraged students to push themselves and use what was donated. Students are volunteering to come in before school, during lunch as well as stay after so that they have more time to work and so that they can bring their friends long to try some projects as well. Having more supplies has allowed me to reach more students and keep more students engaged because I did not have ration tools and have students rotate on who got to use certain tools each day. I am also able to have a two different robotic teams this year due to the donations. Previously I only had the money for one team and no idea how to get the supplies for a second. Having two teams worth of supplies has really motived more students to become involved in the group and participate. The costume design team is busy brainstorming and has recruited students from the film production club and theater to join them! It is wonderful to see students so excited about what they are working on that other students get excited too. Thank you.
