My students use our large classroom map daily and we regularly discuss world geography using the map as a jumping off point when discussing new world history content. Additionally, the snack and personal hygiene cabinet has been something I have wanted to provide for my students since my first year in the classroom and because of your generosity, this year, I have been able to make this goal a reality. Daily, students come to my classroom and ask for snacks, get hygiene products from the cabinet and know that the cabinet only exists thanks to each of you who made the choice to donate to our classroom. \r\n\r\nStudents reacted excitedly when they realized that they had access to healthy snacks in the classroom given that we have a late lunch shift and, oftentimes, students arrive late to school and miss the time slot to get school breakfast. Even students who do not have my class often stop by to grab a quick snack throughout the day and each time, they have been thankful and responsible with their garbage. Our map has been a focal point of the classroom each year because it is so accessible and large, which is incredibly helpful for my students given that most have little to no geographical knowledge. Because of the large visual that we frequently reference, students have already built quite a bit more knowledge related to reading maps, understanding world regions, like the Middle East or Western Europe and can locate specific countries, oceans, and cities on the map more easily since we are often using the map to ground new topics and lessons. \r\n\r\nI apologize that I was unable to include photos of my students in my thank you package, however, my school has asked that I only send photos of the physical space. That being said, I can tell you that currently, we are about to begin a lesson arc related to the Italian Renaissance and students will be diving into art, literature and architecture analysis in the coming week. \r\n\r\nAgain, thank you so much for your support.
