They also enjoyed their activity books during our two weeks off. I wrapped the gifts and I did not want them to open them until they got home. I knew it would be a hit because they so wanted a copy of their own and they were fighting over checking them out at our school library.\r\n\r\nI assessed my students DRA levels this week to see how things were going. 26% of my class is currently still struggling with reading. 20% of my students are close to being at the correct reading level which leaves 54% of my students have reached our goal. They are doing so much better and we will continue to reach our goal. We currently have about 55 more days of school and our Guided Reading groups are going much better than they were before Winter Break.\r\n\r\nI am truly grateful for the books and the support. We sat down and had a chat on the carpet as a class when we got back from Winter Break. I explained to them that the books were a gift from Donor's Choose and we also discussed the importance of reading at home every day. Some students shared that they were reading their books at night with their parents. Some students requested more books to take home.
