I keep the snacks in a cabinet that students know they can quietly access if they need something during class, and within the first few days I heard more than one student say, \"Wait... this is really for us?\" That moment of surprise says a lot. For some of my students, this is the only consistent food they will have between lunch and the time they finally get home, especially for students who stay late for activities or transportation.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a difference in ways that are both simple and powerful. Students grab a granola bar or a bag of chips before settling into their work, and that small moment often shifts the energy of the room. Instead of putting their heads down or struggling to focus, they are able to stay engaged in the lesson. Lately, that focus has been especially important because many of our juniors have been working hard to prepare for the ACT. We've spent time practicing reading strategies, working through passages together, and building stamina for the kind of sustained concentration that the test demands. Having food available has helped students stay present during those longer practice sessions and after-school study time. It may seem small, but when a student isn't distracted by hunger, they can actually give their attention to the work in front of them.\r\n\r\nMore than anything, the snacks help create a classroom environment where students feel like their needs matter. Over time, that sense of care builds trust. Students stay after class to finish assignments, ask questions they might have kept to themselves, and push themselves a little harder during discussions and writing activities.\r\n\r\nAs we continue preparing for the ACT and move deeper into our reading and writing units this semester, these resources will keep supporting students during longer work periods and collaborative projects. What might look like a small supply is actually helping create the stability and focus that students need in order to learn.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping make our classroom a place where students feel supported, respected, and ready to do the hard work of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1766006450472,"projectUrl":"project/bites-for-brilliance-snacks-that-make-a/9626021/","projectTitle":"Bites for Brilliance: Snacks That Make a Difference","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. La Fata","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8792772_orig.jpg?crop=565,565,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1665501881319","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/lafata"},{"teacherId":9267863,"projectId":9649544,"letterContent":"Our Calm Classroom resources have made a powerful difference for my students. We use the breathing lights and calming tools daily during check-ins and after stressful moments to help students reset and refocus. One memorable moment was watching students independently choose the zen garden and breathing tools after a difficult morning, helping each other calm down and return ready to learn. The emotion stamps have also helped students express feelings they sometimes struggle to put into words.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were excited and curious. Many shared that they had never had access to calming tools like these at school before, and they immediately began exploring how to use them during group circles and independent work time.\r\n\r\nNext, we are continuing lessons focused on emotional regulation, healthy decision-making, and relationship-building. Students are learning how to recognize stress signals and choose calming strategies before conflicts or classroom disruptions happen. Thanks to your generosity, our classroom continues to grow as a safe space where students can build emotional skills that support both academic success and positive relationships.","fullyFundedDate":1766237418464,"projectUrl":"project/a-need-for-calm/9649544/","projectTitle":"A Need For Calm","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Berry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9267863_orig.jpg?crop=3000,3000,x0,y500&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733240686892","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9267863"},{"teacherId":9267863,"projectId":9256216,"letterContent":"The Insta360 GO 3 camera has become a powerful learning tool in our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program. My students use it to record real-life situations—whether working through peer conflicts, managing frustration, or making tough choices. Reviewing these recordings in class allows us to pause, reflect, and discuss what worked, what could change, and how to apply SEL strategies more effectively. It has turned everyday moments into meaningful learning opportunities.\r\n\r\nThe hands-free design and immersive 360 view have been especially exciting for my students. They love how natural it feels to record without holding a camera—it lets them stay in the moment while still capturing authentic experiences. The technology feels creative and fun to them, which makes them more eager to participate and engage in self-reflection.\r\n\r\nOne student who is usually very quiet and reserved has embraced the camera as a way to share his perspective. He recorded himself navigating a stressful situation, and when we reviewed it in class, he was able to explain his thought process with pride. This opened up a new level of self-awareness for him and helped his classmates see his strengths, too. The technology has given him—and others—a voice, and it's inspiring to see them build confidence as they use it.\r\n\r\nThank you!\r\nThank you for making this possible. Your generosity has given my students not just new technology, but a tool to see themselves as capable of growth and change. You've helped them take charge of their stories and discover the resilience and strength they already carry within them.","fullyFundedDate":1746540771440,"projectUrl":"project/project-turn-around-360/9256216/","projectTitle":"Project Turn Around 360","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Berry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9267863_orig.jpg?crop=3000,3000,x0,y500&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733240686892","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9267863"},{"teacherId":9267863,"projectId":9124745,"letterContent":"My high school special education students are using the sensory tools as part of our daily routines and lessons. Stress balls, putty, fidget spinners, and kinetic sand give them calming outlets when they feel overwhelmed, while the yoga ball and other movement supports provide ways to stay engaged and focused during instruction. These tools are helping students self-regulate so they can participate more fully in learning.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment happened when a student who normally struggles to stay in group discussions used a stress ball to manage his energy. He was able to stay in the circle, listen to his peers, and contribute his own ideas—something he had not done consistently before. The pride he felt in being part of the group was inspiring to the whole class.\r\n\r\nTheir excitement was immediate! Several students rushed to explore the different textures of the putty and kinetic sand, while others tried out the yoga ball right away. You could see the joy on their faces as they realized these tools were there just for them to feel comfortable, calm, and included.\r\n\r\n\r\nOur next step is integrating the sensory tools into more structured lessons—such as allowing fidget tools during journaling or group work, and using the yoga ball in guided relaxation exercises. We are also planning a reflection activity where students share which tools help them the most and why, encouraging self-advocacy and awareness of their individual needs.","fullyFundedDate":1741099904372,"projectUrl":"project/calm-focus-thrive-sensory-supports-fo/9124745/","projectTitle":"Calm, Focus, Thrive: Sensory Supports for Student Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Berry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9267863_orig.jpg?crop=3000,3000,x0,y500&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733240686892","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9267863"},{"teacherId":9267863,"projectId":9106931,"letterContent":"My students and I are using the journals and pens every day as part of our social-emotional learning class. Each morning begins with a quiet journaling routine where students can write about their feelings, reflect on choices, or set goals for the day. This small ritual has become a grounding practice, helping students feel calm, safe, and ready to engage in class.\r\n\r\nOne powerful moment happened when a student wrote about handling a conflict with a peer in a positive way. During discussion time, the student shared that journaling first helped them \"get the anger out on paper\" instead of reacting in the moment. It was an incredible example of how journaling is helping students apply SEL skills to real-life situations.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was immediate! Students loved receiving their own personal journals and colorful pens. Several commented that they had never had a private journal before, and you could see how special it felt to have something that was truly theirs. The sense of ownership has already made journaling more meaningful.\r\n\r\nThe next step is to keep building consistency so that journaling becomes part of their daily routine both at school and at home. We are also beginning a project where students will look back on their entries and choose one to expand into a short personal narrative, showing how they've learned and grown over time. This will give students the chance to celebrate their progress while strengthening writing and reflection skills.","fullyFundedDate":1741099903895,"projectUrl":"project/peaceful-pens-journaling-project/9106931/","projectTitle":"Peaceful Pens Journaling Project","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Berry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9267863_orig.jpg?crop=3000,3000,x0,y500&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733240686892","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9267863"},{"teacherId":8792772,"projectId":9011411,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous support of our classroom. It's the silent message that someone out there believes in them.\r\n\r\nBecause of your donation, I've seen a change in the energy of my classroom.
