We're getting ready to do our unit with microbits, and I don't have to carry heavy plastic tubs around. Now I can keep those tubs in the cabinet for storage needs. It's so much more convenient and quicker to pick up a backpack and go.\r\nSo, we're going to use the microbits to introduce students to physical coding and block code. If we get really ambitious, we might dive into Python programming, too. I can't wait to see what these kiddos can do with a bit of imagination!\r\nThanks, again, for making all of this easier!","fullyFundedDate":1765211962243,"projectUrl":"project/code-class-on-the-move-from-building-to/9945711/","projectTitle":"Code Class on the Move From Building to Building","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Abend","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp244828_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1541714668621","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mr-abend"},{"teacherId":244828,"projectId":9900087,"letterContent":"My students were super excited to name their plants and begin the experiment. They were surprised that plants could arrive in the mail along with soil and small containers. We made a mess, of course, and had fun doing it.\r\nThat was the easy part. The struggles began with trying to keep some of the plants alive. Unfortunately, we lost one early in the experiment. My student was shocked to learn that you can overwater and destroy the root system.\r\nLastly, we gathered data and made predictions. Of course, students predicted that the same student who overwatered will do so again. Coding the simple app turned out to be more than we could manage. So we agreed to use the data as is without the added step. Overall, it went well and we will use the items again and again.\r\nThanks, again for all the support!","fullyFundedDate":1763487930309,"projectUrl":"project/grow-through-what-you-go-through/9900087/","projectTitle":"Grow Through What You Go Through","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Abend","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp244828_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1541714668621","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mr-abend"},{"teacherId":244828,"projectId":9283055,"letterContent":"Our students can learn how to code and do so more effectively with hands-on projects and data collection. It helps them understand how computers relate to the everyday practical things in their student lives. So, hooking up plant water and light sensors to a device lets them see behind the basic app. \r\nAlso, they enjoy looking at how their plant responds to the environment and how they can collect data and code a basic app to track it.
