Your generosity is helping create a welcoming space where every student has access to books they can enjoy and connect with. As a Behavior Interventionist, I work with students who often need additional academic and behavioral support, and many of my older elementary students need engaging chapter books that match both their interests and reading abilities.\r\n\r\nThese books will do so much more than fill our shelves. They will help students build reading confidence, strengthen comprehension and vocabulary, and provide a positive outlet during independent reading and regulation breaks. For many students, finding a book they genuinely enjoy can be the first step toward developing a lifelong love of reading.\r\n\r\nYour support is an investment in my students' futures. Because of your kindness, they will have opportunities to explore new stories, grow as readers, and experience the confidence that comes from finding books they are excited to read. Starting our school's behavior intervention program completely from scratch was a massive undertaking, and your donations provided the foundational building blocks we desperately needed. \r\nThe rug completely transformed our bare space into a defined, welcoming \"safe zone\" where students immediately felt secure upon entering the room. The educational posters offered vital visual anchors, helping anxious or angry children identify their feelings when they lacked the words to express them. The books became invaluable teaching tools, allowing us to read through scenarios and practice coping mechanisms together. Finally, the fidgets were used daily as immediate tactile tools to safely channel nervous energy and de-escalate intense feelings. \r\nEven though it was a modest start, those core items successfully helped dozens of students calm their bodies, regulate their emotions, and return to their classrooms ready to learn. Students who often struggle to focus have discovered that messing with the bands at their feet provides a quiet distraction that allows their brain to hone in on the math without distracting their classmates as well. \r\n\r\nThe wobble seats came about a week later and were just as big of a hit. I aired them up to various sizes and students love being able to choose what fits them the best. It has been amazing to watch students who have struggled with focus for so long begin to engage in lessons and activities just because of these seemingly small adjustments. \r\n\r\nThank you for helping these future citizens to learn the tools and skills that they will need to pursue whatever career path they decide to embark upon.","fullyFundedDate":1769192042222,"projectUrl":"project/allowing-movement-in-math/9890062/","projectTitle":"Allowing Movement in Math","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Whittemire","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10348236_orig.jpg?crop=1224,1224,x196,y153&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1778703693576","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10348236"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_66958","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":160,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":39,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":84,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":1,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"9.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":83.1,"schoolId":66958,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pierce City Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pierce City Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/missouri/pierce-city-school-district-r6/pierce-city-middle-school/66958"}
