I used creating potholders as a tactile experience for students to do during read alouds at the end of the day to help them focus on listening. This project has done that and so much more. \r\n \r\nStudents were a little skeptical when they first started learning how to weave, some didn't like to struggle with figuring out how to correct errors and some didn't want to do the work. Each student created at least one potholder, many created too many to count. Some students asked their family to get supplies for them to be able to weave at home. Every day during the time that I read aloud a novel to students, they begged to be able to weave. It was great to see students go from questioning my intention to having full buy in!\r\n\r\nMy goal is to continue this project with my new class this school year. I am excited to see how this project will help more students connect with tactile art and helps them to focus and listen while I read.
