These resources have allowed students to use their creativity and art skills in a mathematics classroom, something they do not get to do often. My students have used these materials to create tessellation artwork and their very own Transversal Town. These materials have also eased the daily stress my students face at school. Many students ask me for a stress ball or music daily or a coloring page after they finish an assignment. These resources have improved my students' mental health and have made a mathematics classroom an exciting place to be. \r\n\r\nWhen the project was funded, I announced to my students that thanks to some kind donors, our classroom will be getting an upgrade. While the materials were in shipment, students would ask for updates daily and when the resources were delivered, they were beyond excited. We immediately pulled out the speaker and played the playlist my students collaborated on. With the help of these materials, my students are problem-solving, thinking critically, and collaborating in the classroom. As the school year is coming to a close, my students are gaining confidence in the classroom and are going to finish the year off strong with some creative projects and activities!","fullyFundedDate":1724526716136,"projectUrl":"project/mental-health-matters/8684975/","projectTitle":"Mental Health Matters","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kruse","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9694948_orig.jpg?crop=2160,2160,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724421950651","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9694948"},{"teacherId":9680023,"projectId":8898630,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for contributing toward our classroom! Our colony is still going strong after many months, and has even grown quite a bit! They are amazing specimens for observing behaviors and reactions, as well as learning how to use a microscope. We also have been able to sprout and plant some of the seed in our aquarium, adding much needed plant life to help create a natural nitrogen cycle. \r\nYour gift has made these all possible. The kids have really enjoyed the atmosphere and setting that has been created through your donations. They were really excited when they found out we were putting up LED lights (In fact, one of my students whom I have 1st and the last hour of the day has taken upon herself to make sure the lights are plugged in at the beginning of the day for her class and the other classes to enjoy, and then at the end of the day she makes sure to turn them off to ensure their longevity and save electricity). The lights have been instrumental in developing a climate of peacefulness and tranquility and I have witnessed elevated classroom behavior as a result. I believe there is a definitive correlation. \r\n\r\nWhen you combine this with the motivational posters you see the serene and placid surroundings being developed daily. The posters have been a great opportunity to discuss a winning and successful mindset and a concrete concept you can literally point to when that needs reinforced in the classroom. \r\n\r\nAll the donations have been tremendous and not only what I hoped for, but more. Once we had all of our equipment, they asked daily when we were going to begin making the dog treats because they were so eager to use the appliances. \r\n\r\nThe standing mixer especially sparked excitement. My students love being chosen to run it, and it makes preparing the dough much faster and easier. The specific rolling pins that we ordered measure the thickness of the dough which is so beneficial because we want to make sure the dog treats are the same thickness. When using the rolling pins and mats, my students' knowledge and independence has grown because they now know when to get more flour to help with the dough sticking and when to begin cutting out the treats without my help. After the baking, my students load the dehydrator and get it ready, so the treats last longer. Once the treats are ready for packaging, my students weigh them and use the bags you provided to get them ready to sell. \r\n\r\nYour generous donation made a big impact on my students' education this year. They are learning many skills and gaining confidence through this homemade dog treat business that they would not have gotten without your support.
