My current classroom library contains many books by prolific writers like Dean Koontz, Stephen King, John Grisham, and James Patterson. Unfortunately, the library is small and lacks diversity. I have seen students look at my shelves and walk away with nothing to read. On the other hand, I have seen students who are not self-proclaimed readers pick up books that interest them and become readers. That is the goal: to make readers out of all students. In order to do that, my classroom library needs to reach out to a wide array of interests and backgrounds that my students come with. Helping with this project will ensure that fewer students look at my shelves and walk away empty-handed.
