One of our favorite projects has been our \"Help Your Classmate\" bulletin board featuring a replica of our school mascot, Freddy the Falcon.\r\n\r\nEach week, Freddy travels to a different classroom, where students share ways they can be helpful to one another and contribute positively to their classroom community. We take pictures of Freddy's adventures and share them on our bulletin board, creating a fun version of \"Find Freddy\" while spreading messages of kindness throughout the school.\r\n\r\nThe art supplies have allowed our leadership students to create new bulletin board displays each week, as well as make special items and materials for Freddy to take along to each classroom. What started as an idea in our leadership classroom has grown into an opportunity to encourage kindness, build connections, and remind students that even small acts of helpfulness can make a big difference.\r\n\r\nThe students were excited to see all of the possibilities the new supplies offered! They immediately began brainstorming ways to use the materials to make our ideas come to life. Having access to a variety of art supplies gave them the freedom to be creative, take ownership of the project, and turn their ideas into something tangible that the entire school could enjoy. It has been especially rewarding to see their excitement as they create something that reaches beyond our own classroom and positively impacts others.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue growing the Leading with Kindness initiative and finding new ways to encourage connection throughout our school. Freddy will continue visiting classrooms, highlighting students who are looking for ways to help others and make their classrooms better places to learn. Our leadership students will also continue creating new bulletin board displays and interactive activities that invite the entire school to participate.\r\n\r\nUltimately, we want kindness to become more than just a theme on a bulletin board. We want it to become part of our school culture. We hope students begin to recognize that leadership isn't always about having a title or being in charge; sometimes, it is simply noticing someone who needs help, including someone who feels left out, or finding a small way to make someone else's day better.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us turn these ideas into action. The snacks and materials help make group more comfortable and engaging, and that has made it easier for students to participate honestly in conversations about where they are struggling and what they need to do next. One of the most meaningful parts of the program has been watching students take more ownership of their progress and recognize that even small steps can move them closer to graduation.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue working on attendance, academic progress, NG completion, self-advocacy, and personal accountability. One of the most meaningful moments has been watching the girls reflect on their own boundaries and identify ways they can move toward becoming the person they want to be.\r\n\r\nThe girls have really embraced having an all-girls group and have shared that the topics feel important and relevant to their lives. They are becoming more comfortable speaking up, participating, and supporting one another. I have also seen a stronger sense of belonging develop within the group, especially as some students who were quieter at the beginning have started coming out of their shells. They are proud of the progress they are making and are beginning to recognize their own growth.\r\n\r\nAs we continue the program, students will keep building on these skills through lessons on emotions, healthy choices, support systems, communication, and coping strategies. Our goal is for each student to leave BOLD with stronger confidence, healthier relationships, and practical skills they can use well beyond the group.
