We had a couple students whose vests that fit them from our stock were starting to fall off because the velcro stopped working. The instruments have truly been a blessing, because sometimes the end of the day can be a little chaotic, but when they know they get to pick an instrument to play, they get their things and head to circle so they can pick out their favorite instrument. \r\n\r\nWhen the instruments started arriving in my room, the students were so excited to see what was in the boxes. We opened them together and their eyes lit up when they saw what was in there. They really love playing the instruments and would do so all the time if allowed. They have provided underserved preschool aged children who learn different access to fun learning tools that have and will continue to foster learning of foundational academic skills that will help them as they climb the educational ladder. The seek and find alphabet and letter games help teach the students letter and number recognition, develops their matching skills, and helps to build their fine motor skills (there's a pincher in each game) through strengthening this pincer grasp. The Shape Center activity helps students develop their matching skills and also fosters independence of being able to identify shapes individually and in a group. We are so very thankful for these tools. A few of the favorites have already become \"well loved\" as I affectionately call my books that have seen some wear and tear from continued use.\r\nI have seen students carry their favorite books around the classroom or use a book as a preferred item when transitioning or completing tasks. The fun, rhyming, and sing-song books have been especially popular and have encouraged so much language growth. I've had students naming animals and imitating different animal sounds (Brown Bear Brown Bear and Polar Bear Polar Bear are big favorites among all of my students) which is amazing to hear especially from my students that have developing language.\r\nAlong with being a lovely aesthetic addition, the bookshelf has provided a clear space for where our books in the classroom belong. This has allowed for my students to build on their independence; they know where things go and are able to gather materials and put them away again.\r\nI incorporate books in teaching each of my themes throughout the school year. We read books at circle time, during snack, and just for fun during play.
