Using these plates, they are creating photo transfer prints as well as experimenting with vibrant, layered prints to serve as backgrounds for other printing methods. This hands-on experience allows students to understand how different textures, colors, and layers interact, helping them develop both technical skills and a deeper appreciation for the creative process.\r\n\r\nThe gelli plates have encouraged students to take creative risks, try new approaches, and problem-solve in real time. They have been particularly excited to see their photographs and designs transformed into prints, giving them a sense of pride and accomplishment in their work. I have also been able to expand lessons to include demonstrations of advanced printmaking techniques, something that was not feasible before these materials were available.\r\n\r\nOverall, the donation has had a significant impact on student learning and engagement. It has inspired curiosity, nurtured artistic growth, and allowed students to create layered, expressive works that showcase their unique ideas. The Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation's support has directly contributed to this enriched learning experience, making a meaningful difference in the classroom and fostering a love for art that will continue to grow.","fullyFundedDate":1758804095327,"projectUrl":"project/gelli-art-printing-plates/9554244/","projectTitle":"Gelli Art Printing Plates","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Smithey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3789310_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760555343678","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3789310"},{"teacherId":3789310,"projectId":9570211,"letterContent":"The addition of the Skin Colors of the World colored pencils has made a tremendous impact on my Drawing I classroom. We are currently working on portrait drawings of loved ones or well-known actors, and these new materials have allowed students to create far more accurate, meaningful, and inclusive representations in their artwork.\r\n\r\nWhen students first opened the sets, we began comparing shades, testing tones on paper, and talking about how they could now match real skin tones instead of using limited or unrealistic colors. For many, it was the first time they felt truly equipped to capture the individuality of the person they were drawing.\r\n\r\nThese pencils are helping students understand value, tone, and subtle color variation in a way that standard sets simply cannot provide. As we move forward in the unit, students will continue refining their portraits with more confidence, accuracy, and artistic pride.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting experiences that help students see themselves and others represented in the art materials they use every day. Your generosity directly improves both the quality of their work and the inclusivity of our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1758803648182,"projectUrl":"project/skin-colors-of-the-world-color-pencils/9570211/","projectTitle":"Skin Colors Of The World Color Pencils","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Smithey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3789310_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760555343678","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3789310"},{"teacherId":3789310,"projectId":9761394,"letterContent":"Our new manual turntable wheels have already made a huge impact in the classroom!
