Teaching reading goes far beyond helping students sound out words; it is about giving them the tools to think critically, make connections, and build confidence. With these new texts, our daily reading lessons have leveled up as students analyze character development, decipher rich vocabulary using context clues, and discover underlying themes about perseverance and curiosity. Reading in our room is dynamic and engaging—on any given day, you can find small guided reading groups working together, pairs reading in cozy corners, and students deeply engrossed in independent stories.\r\n\r\nThe addition of the wobble chair feet has completely transformed our learning environment by taking away the barrier of having to sit perfectly still. Students who need sensory support can now wiggle, shift, and release subtle energy while keeping their eyes glued to the page and their minds focused on the story. This flexible movement, paired with high-interest books, has helped our reluctant readers build remarkable stamina. Children who used to feel overwhelmed by quiet reading time are now eagerly reaching for new texts and asking for \"just one more page\" before our next lesson transition.\r\n\r\nYour generosity did so much more than just provide books and seating; it showed my students that a whole community of people believes in their potential. You have created a comfortable, supportive space where every child can thrive and build a lifelong love for learning. While many of our donors use technology at home, seeing it in a classroom setting can look a bit different. In our room, headphones allow students to fully engage with digital lessons, videos, and interactive programs without distractions or interruptions. Most importantly, students can have text read aloud to them privately, which supports comprehension, confidence, and independence—especially for struggling readers.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students is having the freedom to work at their own pace. They love being able to replay instructions, listen closely to stories, and focus deeply on their tasks without worrying about background noise or bothering others. It makes learning feel more personal and accessible.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially warmed to this new technology. Some who were previously hesitant to participate are now more confident because they can listen to directions or reading support as many times as they need. Others who are easily distracted are better able to stay focused and complete their work. Overall, the headphones have created a calmer, more inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed.\r\n\r\nThank you for providing a simple but powerful tool that truly supports our students' learning and growth.","fullyFundedDate":1763100207183,"projectUrl":"project/headphone-drive/9893255/","projectTitle":"Headphone Drive","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Moore","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10065294_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751005370102","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10065294"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_77790","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":321,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":81,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":7,"gradesServed":"3 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":44.1,"schoolId":77790,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Robinwood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Robinwood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/missouri/ferguson-florissant-school-district-r2/robinwood-elementary-school/77790"}
