Getting this 3D printer and the filament in my classroom has turned a lot heads! My students have enjoyed seeing it in action or suggesting new ideas on how to help them play better or add some flare to their experience in Band. \r\n\r\nAt the moment I have been able to print enough Trombone and Trumpet mutes to put one in every active students cases. My clarinet and alto sax players are in love with the ligatures I have been printing. I have also gotten control over the sound of my snare drums using a dampener that I 3D printed. Just the idea of having something 3D printed has pushed my student.\r\n\r\nA little anecdote with the trumpet mutes. I have a young student that gets so in to getting their part right that it is sometimes hard to talk. That student is now trained to grab a mute whenever they want to play and giving instruction to another group.\r\n\r\nCurrently I am working on another practice tool for brass players to work on their lip control. The students have enjoyed the variety of seating options available to them. Students get to sit in many different options throughout their day. I have seen an increase in student task independence when their body is seated in a way that is functional for their learning task. The earthy tone colors and coziness of the seating options that were funded have also brought a calming look to our space.
