Middle school students are growing more and more and traditional seating just doesn't work for many of my students. As students get older, their desks become smaller. I have never understood this. Students in elementary school have desks that have chairs that push out, and the desk legs can be adjusted to fit the size of the student. As students go into middle and high school, their desks become smaller and their seats are connected to the desks. How can a student learn if they can't properly fit into their seat? I have students who are 6 feet tall and are very uncomfortable in traditional desks. The students are always trying to move to get comfortable or have to sit sideways so they can fit in the desk. Because of this I began looking for tables for my students. I was lucky enough to have some donated by a church a few years ago. Unfortunately, these tables have seen better days. They are old and falling apart. I have had to have multiple tables fixed this year because they keep breaking. This is also not conducive to teaching. The table legs break and the kids don't know what to do. Then, I have to do some maneuvering to get them in different seats so I can get the tables fixed. My students have the right to be comfortable in their learning environment. Please help me by helping me purchase new tables!
