Your generosity has helped us create more supportive learning environments for our students. The flexible seating has been used in my student support room and shared with other teachers to help students who need additional support throughout the school day. These resources give students options that can help them feel more comfortable, improve their focus, and remain in the classroom for instruction rather than needing to leave when they are struggling to concentrate or regulate their emotions.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest impacts of this project is that the seating can support students in different settings, depending on their individual needs. By allowing students to use flexible seating in their general education classrooms, we can help them stay engaged in lessons, focus on their work, and participate in learning alongside their peers. In my student support room, the seating also helps provide a welcoming space where students can reset, catch up on assignments, and work through difficult moments. Every student is different, and having these options helps us better meet their needs.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, these resources are making a difference beyond a single classroom. When the tables, stools, and rugs first arrived, two former students volunteered to carry the heavy boxes to my room. This gave me a chance to reconnect with them, and they felt good about helping. \r\nI was then able to use the assembly of the tables and stools to build a relationship with a student who, in previous years, has really struggled with school and authority. He asked to help build the furniture during his free time. I believe this relationship helped keep him engaged and present the first weeks of school. \r\nMiddle schoolers need a chance to practice making choices and social skills. The optional seating helps with these skills. Students are able to stand during class, move around if needed, and make the best choice about where to sit and who to work with.
