The games that were purchased for our social and emotional activities have helped our students interact more and communicate in more meaningful ways. The students were very excited to receive the games and they have taken care of them.\r\n\r\nThe students have learned better turn taking skills with the games of Sorry, Battleship, and Uno. Many of them are able to adapt to changes within the game when their turn is skipped, the order changes with a reverse or the color changes with a wild card in Uno. The verbal students are better at discussing situations when playing the game What Should You Do. My nonverbal students are learning to play Go Fish with communication cards when asking for specific numbers. \r\n\r\nOverall, we are very pleased with the progress the students have made through the social skills time and it is showing when we play games and throughout the day with their interactions with peers and adults.
