Thanks to a generous DonorsChoose contribution, we were able to create a Courtesy Locker — a shared resource station stocked with tissues, hair nets, ponytail holders, clipboards, lotion, and bandaids. For many of our students, arriving fully prepared for a professional kitchen environment isn't always a given. A forgotten hair net or a dry, cracked hand can be the difference between a confident start to class and a moment of quiet embarrassment that lingers all day. The Courtesy Locker removes that barrier entirely. It signals to every student who walks through our door that this program sees them, supports them, and is invested in their success — not just as cooks, but as whole people. In a career and technical education setting where industry readiness and personal dignity go hand in hand, small gestures like this create a culture of belonging that makes everything else — the knife skills, the customer service, the culinary science — possible.","fullyFundedDate":1767129873858,"projectUrl":"project/some-basics/9924769/","projectTitle":"Some Basics","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Garrison","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10084855_orig.jpg?crop=1133,1133,x0,y169&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753027799999","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10084855"},{"teacherId":5967907,"projectId":9905112,"letterContent":"It is hard to express how much this means to my students!
