My students come into my classroom carrying so many things that we cannot always see. I wanted my classroom to be a place where they could put some of those things down and simply know, \"I am seen. I am valued. I belong. And I AM ENOUGH!\" We have used the resources from this project to focus on self-esteem, self-care, positive affirmations, mental and emotional wellness, and learning to recognize the good within ourselves and others. Seeing my students encourage one another and proudly talk about their strengths has been one of my favorite parts of this project.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, my students were EXCITED! But what touched me most was being able to tell them that people they did not even know believed in them enough to help make this project possible. That meant something to them—and it definitely meant something to me. As a teacher, I can teach lessons from a textbook all day, but some of the most important lessons I will ever teach my students are that their circumstances do not determine their worth, their mistakes do not define them, and they should never allow anyone to make them feel like they are not enough.\r\n\r\nWe are not finished! We will continue building on the \"I Am Enough\" message throughout the school year as we discuss healthy relationships, decision-making, self-esteem, emotional wellness, goal setting, and making healthy choices. My goal is for every student who walks out of my classroom to leave knowing a little more about Health—but, more importantly, knowing a whole lot more about THEMSELVES. To every donor who helped make this possible, THANK YOU for helping me pour into my babies.
