For my students with significant learning needs, the way our classroom is arranged matters. The new tables give us flexible spaces for small-group instruction, hands-on learning, independent work, and life-skills activities. Instead of simply having a place to sit, my students now have spaces that can be intentionally set up for the task in front of them and adapted to the support each student needs.\r\n\r\nMy students were excited to see the new furniture arrive and quickly made the tables part of our daily routine. We use them for academics, task-box activities, communication practice, and functional learning. One of my favorite things has been watching students work at a table with an adult or peer and then begin completing parts of that same routine more independently. Those moments may seem small, but in our classroom, increased independence is a very big accomplishment.\r\n\r\nOur next step is continuing to build classroom routines that encourage communication, choice-making, independence, and real-world skills. We are also developing our classroom \"Tiger Store,\" where students will practice skills such as identifying items and signs, counting, making choices, communicating with others, and completing job-related tasks. Your generosity gave us much more than tables—you helped us create a classroom environment where our students can learn, participate, and discover what they are capable of doing.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and helping us build a classroom where every student has a place to learn, grow, and belong.","fullyFundedDate":1778861993598,"projectUrl":"project/not-just-tablestools-for-independence/10199140/","projectTitle":"Not Just Tables—Tools for Independence","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bolan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10480412_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1777649272730","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10480412"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_13266","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":915,"numTeachers":72,"percentFrplEligible":73,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":20,"percentWhite":65,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"12.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":69.2,"schoolId":13266,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Northeast Jones High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Northeast Jones High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/mississippi/jones-county-school-district/northeast-jones-junior-senior-high-school/13266"}
