This technology helps them to focus and listen for details during the story. It also helps beginning readers as the follow along with the book. As we assembled the buckets together, the excitement in the room was contagious. Students eagerly explored the items, talked about which activities they wanted to try first, and proudly carried their buckets home at our end-of-year celebration. For many of our students, receiving a personalized summer gift was a memorable experience that made them feel valued, celebrated, and loved.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stands out was watching students compare their favorite items and share ideas about how they planned to use them with siblings and friends over the summer. The bubbles and sidewalk chalk were especially popular, and several students could hardly wait to get outside and start using them. Students went out of their way to remember how to be kind and speak with manners. This small community of learning thinkers and doers is making a difference in our school. Student handmade cards that showed that they care and gave a happy treat that showed how much it means to be kind. \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWhen the students first got a glimpse of the items in the boxes, they all wanted to have some. That was the perfect opportunity to bring up the kindness cart and explain to the students what the goal was for the initiative. I wanted the students to learn how to respond by saying, yes, please, thank you, you're welcome, ma'am or sir. At first, it was not thought of in our classroom but the more the teachers and assistants corrected their responses the more it became second nature. \r\n\r\n It brings awareness to the topic that having manners, and respecting others is part of being kind. The flying kite dragons over head is a fun way to brighten up our library space. All of the decorations from this project has enlightened my students and peaked their curiosity. The students really love seeing new books hit the shelf. The Book Tasting was a great lead in to share these titles with the students. All students were welcomed with inviting displays, cafe style setting, snacks, and of course books. The students were able to sample fiction, nonfiction, biographical, and fairy tale books. I believe that as students picked up books to preview they were also deeply inspired by each title to read more.
