Students will be able to easily access sheet music, pencils, and other essential supplies without interrupting rehearsal time or searching for materials. The additional workspace will also allow us to create small group stations for music literacy activities, written assignments, sectionals, and collaborative learning. Having designated spaces for these activities will help our rehearsals run more smoothly and allow students to spend more time focused on making music.\r\n\r\nThe foldable design will be especially helpful in our choir room, where we regularly transition between traditional rehearsals, movement activities, and performance preparation. We will be able to set up the tables when needed and quickly fold them away to create additional open space. These simple but essential resources will help us create a more functional, organized, and flexible learning environment. With these materials, students will design and create their own masquerade masks using feathers, gems, silver and gold markers, decorative butterflies, insects, and wooden dowels. They will explore how colors, textures, and patterns can enhance a theatrical performance while using their creativity to bring their artistic visions to life. Having the opportunity to create something of their own will allow every student to contribute a unique piece to our upcoming performance.\r\n\r\nAs students design and assemble their masks, they will develop problem-solving, planning, collaboration, and fine motor skills. They will consider how to arrange their decorations, combine materials, and create designs that are both visually appealing and functional. This project will demonstrate how learning extends beyond the music classroom and how music, visual arts, and engineering can work together in exciting ways. Students will also have opportunities to build confidence, make creative decisions, and take pride in something they have created themselves.\r\n\r\nOur next step will be to incorporate these finished masks into our May performance, bringing together music and visual art to create a memorable theatrical experience. We have been very effective with our Yoga this semester. We have offered it in the mornings for teachers and students to relax and learn new physical skills. We have meetings during break as well. We have a Yoga Club of active students once a month too.\r\n\r\nOur most enthusiastic group of students are our PE classes. We have been providing Yoga to our all of our PE students as part of their class. They are able to learn breathing techniques, anti-anxiety skills, and new physical challenges. This give us an opportunity to help them with with Body, Mind, and Spirit. They ask to have Yoga each week, and it has been very effective.\r\n\r\nHernando High School is also working with the Mental Health therapist as a supplemental support to her therapy sessions. There are several Special Education students that come and have learned new ways to cope with their anger. We have been trying to \"touch\" the lives of every student at Hernando High School. We have over 1500 currently, and each student has been able to have the opportunity to be touched by your generous donation. \r\n\r\nOur next project and focus will be our district wide Mental Health Awareness day in May. We are using the practice of Yoga to spear head this event. It will be presented to the Board Education.
