We use it every day for whole-group lessons, read-alouds, phonics instruction, math activities, morning meetings, and class discussions. Having a comfortable, designated space where we can gather together helps my first graders feel connected and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThe magnetic bookshelves have also been a wonderful addition to our classroom. They give us a special place to organize and display some of our classroom read alouds.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our classroom feels more welcoming, organized, and ready for learning. As explained in the initial request for funding, I'm a Dyslexia Therapist working with elementary students. All of my students have difficulty reading, writing, spelling and some struggle with speaking and communication. \r\nTheir initial reactions to the new furniture, seating and area rugs was amazement and they immediately started asking to sit in the reading area. The beanbag covers and shelving made it such a cozy spot that they couldn't wait to grab a book and read even if they had some difficulty doing so. \r\nThis was my goal. They are having more positive experiences with reading and positive attitudes towards reading with the funding from this project. Seeing this come to fruition has been a dream come true for me as an educator to special populations in my school.
