Because of your donations, my students have had a more joyful and calming classroom experience.\r\nPart of why I wrote this was to help students find the \"fun\" and wonder in learning English. Through games like Bananagrams, Boggle, and Catch Phrase the students were learning spelling skills and verbal skills, but in a highly engaging way that didn't feel like more worksheets. English is more than just reading and writing; speaking and listening are important too, and they are able to all do these skills better now through incorporating these words games.\r\nThe other part of the grant focused on my students' social and emotional well-being. Students today are often more anxious and have a harder time self-regulating and managing their stress. Through the positive affirmations, calming toys, fidgets, and calming techniques they learned, they have all become more self-aware and better self-advocates.","fullyFundedDate":1761923255320,"projectUrl":"project/words-with-friends/9441993/","projectTitle":"Words With Friends","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Heilman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10068505"},{"teacherId":7309055,"projectId":5244785,"letterContent":"WOW did this make a difference! Students loved the books and they were constantly flying off the shelves. The top favorite was \"Legendborn\" by Tracy Deonn, which was a book that even had some reluctant readers diving through pages. Students also told me the impact of the content. I was told that I was one of the only teachers that had books that reflected the students themselves, and even those that didn't opt to read the books still share their appreciation of seeing them. \r\n\r\nThis project and it's outcome also helped me have bigger conversations with other educators.
