I was able to get a number of sensory tools and bins to store them in. These are sometimes critical tools for use with my students with special needs. \r\n\r\nI created break boxes with the materials I received from this project. Each box has various items. Students are able to choose a box to take a break with. Many students love the boxes and utilize them often. \r\n\r\nWe will continue to use the break boxes! It is I Love to Read month, and your donation is making this a very exciting month. \r\nI was able to order a couple of sets of Desmond Cole Ghost Patrol. This series teaches the students all about how to be a good friend, how to be brave, and manage strong emotions. Desmond is a brave character who welcomes a new kid into the neighborhood. The student had lively discussions as we read the first book together. Now many of the students are reading the books in order to learn more about the adventures of Desmond and Andres. These books are being shared in the classroom as I was unable to secure one for each student. \r\n\r\nThe Smart Cookie also reaches the students on an emotional level. It teaches them how everyone has feelings of insecurity, but each of us is One Smart Cookie. For this story, we created reading tents and used flashlights. Each small group of students shared reading the story. The excitement grew when they found out this book was going home with them. They started making plans of how they were going to share it with their families.
