When everything arrived & introduced, their excitement was immediate, especially when they saw the wobble chairs and the Black Forest fruit snacks! There were so many smiles and questions; my class was eager to try everything. One moment that stood out was during our phonics block: students used the dry erase markers and highlighters to write words and highlight sounds they're learning during decodable passages. Some chose to sit in the wobble chairs to stay on task and complete their work in silence. I noticed how big of a difference flexible seating (specifically wobble chairs) has in a classroom, such as giving students who need movement to stay comfortable. I could say the same for highlighters too, especially for reading.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will continue using these resources during our reading and writing time by highlighting key ideas, editing our work, and building strong habits as independent learners. The wobble chairs will remain an important option for students who benefit from movement, and even the fruit snacks have become a small but meaningful way to keep students fuel at the end of the day to remain motivated and focused. These materials have helped me build routines and create a classroom where students feel prepared, cared for, and excited to learn each day. The headphones have quickly become an essential part of our daily routine, especially during independent reading and listening centers. One moment that stood out to me was watching a student who often struggles to focus become completely engaged while listening to a story: tuned in, confident, and smiling. It has truly transformed our meeting space from a simple corner of the room into the heart of our classroom community.\r\n\r\nWe use the rug multiple times throughout every single day. Each morning, we gather together for our morning meeting, where students share news from home, practice social-emotional skills, and get excited about the day ahead. During our literacy block, the rug becomes our story time haven where we explore new books together, act out stories, and discuss characters and plot. In math, we use the rug for interactive games and hands-on activities that help solidify concepts through movement and play. The rug has become the place where we build connections, share ideas, and learn together as a community.\r\n\r\nMore than just a piece of classroom furniture, this rug has helped my second graders feel safe, comfortable, and valued.
