Students didn't pay much attention to them at first, they were just part of the room. But slowly, things changed.\r\n\r\nStudents started using the posters during class without being told. When someone got stuck during an experiment, they'd look up at the scientific method poster and figure out what to do next. If a student forgot a vocabulary word, they'd find it on the wall. The posters were always there when students needed them.\r\n\r\nThe posters also got students interested in science at unexpected times. Students waiting for class to begin would look at careers posted on the walls. Others would talk about whether the ecosystem poster matched what they saw in their own neighborhoods. Students explored these ideas on their own, just because they were curious.\r\n\r\nThe posters helped all kinds of learners. Some students understood pictures and diagrams better than textbook paragraphs. Students learning English used the labeled images to connect new words with what they meant. Everyone could find a way to learn from the posters.","fullyFundedDate":1755714564671,"projectUrl":"project/walls-that-teach-science-posters/9608825/","projectTitle":"Walls That Teach: Science Posters","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jenny Capuno","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9771679_orig.jpg?crop=351,351,x35,y101&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755312040224","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9771679"},{"teacherId":9771679,"projectId":9023307,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generosity. \r\n\r\nThe students transformed from passive observers into active scientists and communicators, equipped with tools that made abstract concepts tangible and personal. \r\n\r\nThe magnifying glasses have changed how students approached observation. What began as casual glances became deliberate investigations. My class used the goggles in our chemical reaction experiment. The magnifying glass will be used in our next lesson, Rock Transformations wherein, studennt will investigate the physical characteristics of different rocks.\r\n\r\nThe presentation clicker allows me to walk around the classroom during presentations. That means I can easily approch students with questions and of needs assistance during discussions. Your support has truly transformed our learning environment. Thanks to your contributions, we have acquired essential tools like a heater, laminating machine, sharpener, and voice amplifier. Each of these items plays a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience for our students. The heater has created a warm and inviting atmosphere, allowing students to focus better on their studies, particularly during the colder months. This simple comfort makes a difference in their ability to concentrate and engage fully in their learning. The laminating machine has empowered our educators to create durable, high-quality teaching materials that can be reused year after year. The new sharpener has been a game-changer in our classroom. With sharp pencils always at hand, our students can put their best foot forward in their writing and art projects, fostering creativity and expression in their work. Finally, the voice amplifier has been invaluable in helping our teachers communicate effectively, especially in larger classrooms where every student needs to hear and understand the lesson. Your generosity has directly impacted the quality of education we provide, and we cannot thank you enough for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1735503717251,"projectUrl":"project/improving-learning-spaces-innovative-he/8916106/","projectTitle":"Improving Learning Spaces: Innovative Heating and Classroom Equipment Solutions","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jenny Capuno","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9771679_orig.jpg?crop=351,351,x35,y101&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755312040224","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9771679"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_107350","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":570,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":93,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.1,"schoolId":107350,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Minnesota Math and Science Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Minnesota Math and Science Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/minnesota-department-of-education/minnesota-math-and-science-academy/107350"}
