Because of you, my classroom has been transformed from a bare space into a warm, welcoming environment where my students feel seen, valued, and inspired to learn.\r\n\r\nThe students I work with are WIDA Level 1 newcomers. Bright, resilient young people who are learning English while also adjusting to a new school, country, and culture. Thanks to your donations, I was able to provide not only essential classroom supplies like books and organizational tools, but also basic food and hygiene items that ensured my students could focus on learning rather than unmet needs. Something as simple as having a snack during class or a place to store their supplies gave them a sense of comfort and stability.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments so far came when we began talking about where we are all coming from and they were able to show us with the many maps and books in their language. The pride on their faces when they saw their country honored alongside a map of the United States was unforgettable. These materials allowed us to turn the classroom into a true community space where every student's culture and voice matters.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has already made a lasting impact. Students who walked in shy and uncertain are now raising their hands, laughing with their peers, and beginning to write and share their stories in English. The resources you helped provide gave them not just the tools to learn, but the confidence to believe they belong here.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you. You have helped me launch my teaching career with hope, creativity, and care, and you've given my students the gift of a safe and supportive space to grow. We are so grateful for you.","fullyFundedDate":1750701521992,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-classroom-where-newcomers-thr/9258638/","projectTitle":"Creating a Classroom Where Newcomers Thrive","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lizzie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10000574"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_95132","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":115,"numTeachers":14,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":37,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":59,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"8.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.3,"schoolId":95132,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lincoln International High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lincoln International High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/minnesota-department-of-education/lincoln-international-school/95132"}
