Our students use our new vacuum cleaners every day as part of our classroom job system, and having two vacuums has made caring for our large space and its many rugs much more manageable. We also use the steam mop when our floors need a deeper clean. These may seem like simple household tools, but in our Montessori classroom, they have become tools for something much bigger: helping children take real ownership of the place where they learn each day.\r\n\r\nOne of the promises in our classroom constitution is, \"We care for our class environment.\" Dr. Maria Montessori wrote extensively about the importance of children participating in the real work of caring for their surroundings. Rather than having adults simply maintain the classroom for them, students are invited to contribute to its order, beauty, and care. Each day, our students take responsibility for classroom jobs that keep our shared space beautiful and functional. They are learning that caring for a community isn't just about how we treat one another—it is also about how we treat the spaces and materials we all share.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the year, we hope our students develop an even deeper sense that **this is their community, and they have an important role in caring for it.** Sweeping a floor, vacuuming a rug during classroom job time, carefully returning materials, or helping restore the room at the end of the day may be small acts, but together they create a culture of responsibility and respect. Your donation has given our students practical tools to live out one of the values at the heart of our classroom every day: We care for our class environment. Thank you for helping our students experience the pride that comes from making their shared space beautiful.","fullyFundedDate":1775244034096,"projectUrl":"project/from-messy-to-montessori-student-power/10046514/","projectTitle":"From Messy to Montessori: Student-Powered Clean Up","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mandy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10414331_orig.png?crop=433,433,x0,y27&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1771104322438","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10414331"},{"teacherId":10435010,"projectId":10250153,"letterContent":"Our classroom is loving the materials that you have gifted to our environment! They use them to write, read, do research, practice math skills, and clean up our classroom. They were so drawn to these new materials right away, and they continue to love using them in our everyday happenings.\r\nAs the supplies trickled in, we replaced old items with them or introduced them in small-group lessons. The children were so excited to receive new materials and get to use them for the first time. It makes our classroom buzz with much-needed new energy.\r\nOur next steps with many of these materials are to help our children become their best, most independent selves. They will eventually use these materials without any help from the adults in the classroom, and we will give them more access to the materials as we go. It will be so wonderful to see how these materials benefit the children; we appreciate you!","fullyFundedDate":1778534941832,"projectUrl":"project/much-needed-supplies-for-our-classroom/10250153/","projectTitle":"Much Needed Supplies for Our Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Emma","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10435010_orig.jpg?crop=1657,1657,x0,y11&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1777656840412","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/balsamclassroom"},{"teacherId":10435010,"projectId":10241792,"letterContent":"This project has done wonders for our Montessori library space. \r\nSince receiving these materials, we have welcomed the students for the new school year and have also started to use the materials in our everyday routine. They light up when they get to use something new, and it's even more wonderful when the materials are useful as well.\r\nWe hope to continue to keep these materials available for the children and supply them with everything they may need to be their best, most independent selves!\r\nThank you all, again, for supporting our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1778265177306,"projectUrl":"project/beautiful-libraries-make-beautiful-reade/10241792/","projectTitle":"Beautiful Libraries Make Beautiful Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Emma","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10435010_orig.jpg?crop=1657,1657,x0,y11&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1777656840412","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/balsamclassroom"},{"teacherId":10434528,"projectId":10097159,"letterContent":"As a public charter Montessori, school, we have many freedoms but limited funding. The ability to pursue this grant opens doors that would not otherwise be possible.\r\n When the packages for the musical instrument grant arrived at our school, students did non know what they contained. Upon opening, students immediately began to use the keyboard, violin, guitar, and recorders.\r\n Some who had prior experience with the violin taught others to play. Students used the guitar to compose songs. Others followed self-paced instruction on the recorders. A few students, who needed time for a reset, would put on headphones and practice on the keyboard.\r\n I look forward to expanding the bound for the upcoming year, allowing student to independently follow pre-set lesssons on all instruments. I also anticipate using the recorders to tie in mathematical concepts such as fractions and frequency. \r\n None of this would be possible without this grant. It is deeply appreciated.","fullyFundedDate":1775244120198,"projectUrl":"project/making-music-in-montessori/10097159/","projectTitle":"Making Music in Montessori","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Leise","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10434528"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_131420","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":88,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":17,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":86,"percentIndigenous":4,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.5,"schoolId":131420,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Creekstone Montessori Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Creekstone Montessori Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/minnesota-department-of-education/creekstone-montessori-charter-school/131420"}
