These thoughtful supplies have already made a huge difference in our daily learning.\r\nWe are using these materials every day for interactive notebooks, hands-on labs, and our exciting dioramas on energy-efficient homes. The colored markers and glue sticks help students beautifully organize their science notebooks with diagrams and foldables. The new calculators make our measurement and cost-analysis activities run smoothly during our energy-efficiency unit. The paint and timers are perfect for our diorama project—students use timers to stay on task while they build and paint model homes with solar panels, insulation, and energy-saving features.\r\nNext, we're moving from building our energy-efficient home dioramas to presenting them. Students will use their interactive notebooks (now neatly filled with the new supplies) to explain the science behind their designs—calculating energy savings with the new calculators and sharing written reflections with the fresh pencils. After presentations, we'll extend the unit by designing a \"dream classroom\" that is also energy-efficient, combining everything we've learned. These steps will help students connect science, math, engineering, and creativity while building confidence in public speaking and problem-solving.\r\nYour generosity has given my students the tools to create, calculate, and dream bigger. They feel supported and capable every time they reach for these supplies. Because of your support, my students now have the seeds, AeroGarden pods, planting tools, and soil they need to dive hands-on into environmental science. Your kindness is making a real difference in our classroom!\r\nThe moment the box arrived and we unpacked everything, my students' eyes lit up with pure excitement. \r\nWe are already putting the new resources to great use! We started a hands-on unit on plant life cycles, ecosystems, and sustainability. Students are planting their own seeds in small pots and using the AeroGarden pods for a faster-growing hydroponics comparison. They're keeping daily observation journals, measuring growth, and learning how plants help our environment by producing oxygen and supporting pollinators.\r\nRight now, the next steps in our project are to track how different variables (light, water, soil type) affect plant growth. We'll eventually transplant the strongest seedlings outside and discuss ways we can reduce waste and care for the Earth in our daily lives. The students are so proud of \"their\" plants and can't wait to share updates with their families.\r\nThank you again for giving my students this incredible, tangible learning experience. You've given them more than supplies — you've given them the chance to become young environmental scientists. We'll be sure to share photos of our garden progress soon!","fullyFundedDate":1770647777730,"projectUrl":"project/growing-science/10065222/","projectTitle":"Growing Science","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Troyer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2733562_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1594309790690","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/caitlin-percy007"},{"teacherId":2733562,"projectId":9663390,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and giving us the supplies we need to keep this project going! Everything was placed in the tank and the snails are thriving, and the students are loving the additions to our aquariums. \r\nWe've been using the aquariums in our matter unit by testing the water parameters and then discussing the importance of keeping nitrogen levels low in our water systems. Without the water test kits, we would not have this hands on opportunity to learn about the nitrogen cycle. We can then apply this knowledge to our next unit- exploring the health of our water systems. \r\nThank you so much for supporting our classroom and giving us the chance to continue this valuable addition to our classroom and curriculum.","fullyFundedDate":1757479309813,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-aquariums/9663390/","projectTitle":"Classroom Aquariums","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Troyer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2733562_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1594309790690","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/caitlin-percy007"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_95118","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1256,"numTeachers":64,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":99,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"19.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":60.9,"schoolId":95118,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Community School of Excellence on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Community School of Excellence","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/minnesota-department-of-education/community-school-of-excellence/95118"}
