Each participant has a job during our Book Club time. There is a Summarizer who explains what the chapter is all about. They also facilitate the conversation by asking questions and telling others when it is their turn. There is an Illustrator who draws their favorite part of the chapter, and the rest of the club has to guess which part they drew. There is also a Word Wizard who chooses interesting words, defines them, and teaches the club about them. Finally, the Connector makes text-to-self connections, describes them to the club, and then elicits their own connections from club members.\r\n\r\nThere are enough books for 3 to 4 clubs to run simultaneously. All participants enjoy the books, love reading them, and eagerly join the discussions. Their reading, speaking, and listening skills are improving rapidly.
