When even the youngest children are empowered to look for their own books and make their own reading choices, they are more motivated to read. \r\n\r\nWe already had two of these units that we use to highlight picture books in the categories that students request most often (superheroes, mythical creatures, funny books, spooky books, etc.), and we have placed these new shelves on the other side of the library to highlight nonfiction books that have not gotten the attention they deserve hidden in the stacks with only their spines on display. The books and other supplies have not only enriched our curriculum but have also significantly transformed my students' understanding and appreciation of water's vital role in our ecosystem. \r\n\r\nThroughout the project, students have been deeply engaged in learning about how water moves through Earth. This exploration has sparked curiosity and led to meaningful discussions around the natural processes that govern our planet. By examining the water cycle, students have gained insights into the journey water takes and how it sustains life as it moves through various ecosystems. One of the most impactful aspects of the project was the hands-on experience with water filtration techniques. Students were fascinated to learn how water is filtered, gaining a new appreciation for the complexity and importance of this process. They enthusiastically participated in experiments that demonstrated how impurities are removed from water, enhancing their understanding of both natural and human-made filtration systems.\r\n\r\nI am excited to build on this foundational learning in the years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1768506993937,"projectUrl":"project/water-systems/9890529/","projectTitle":"Water Systems","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Vickery","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8033140_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1694985998507","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8033140"},{"teacherId":8696520,"projectId":10077026,"letterContent":"This year, when I was prepping my students for the transition to unlimited checkouts, I set aside time to explain that our graphic novel section was especially precious.
