We have a large building with many wings and rooms so it means a lot to have a buddy! Also, we will be able to save student's art projects and work in the future. We are looking forward to discovering new and many ways to use this wonderful gift! Everyone enjoys writing a positive note and many are employing their creative skills on the post cards. \r\n\r\nAs we build this muscle, we hope to keep this as a practice for our staff, expand these connections beyond our staff meeting time, and create more refrigerator-worthy notes. This opportunity allowed them to practice their leadership as well as communicate instructions in both English and Spanish. Additionally, the student leaders explained to the class about animal shelters and how a fleece blanket can provide comfort and communicate care. \r\n\r\nThis hands-on learning experience was so important for students and was filled with moments of connection and collaboration. A teacher leader was able to share her experience with her mother in an assisted living facility due to recovery after a stroke and her experience with her aunt in memory care. Our students learned about the role that assisted living and memory care facilities play in our communities. \r\n\r\nThen our student leaders were able to come up with designs, templates, and ideas for what to put on the rocks. We had student leaders supporting their classmates with the project. \r\n\r\nThe students also had so much fun painting the rocks and creating kind words for the seniors in our community. There was joy and laughter during the process and all students were able to shine.
