What a joy it has been!\r\n\r\nWe started by reading a Scholastic News article that tied in perfectly with learning how 3D printers can help solve real world problems. The article told the story of a young girl who received a prosthetic arm created with a 3D printer. The article explained how a community came together to support her need and the cost of the project. After reading, I shared about my own DonorsChoose project and how generous supporters, like you, helped bring a 3D printer to our classroom. Just like in the article, we brainstormed ways a 3D printer could help us solve a problem. The class voted to print a new UNO card box to replace our worn out cardboard one.\r\n\r\nOur 3D printer has opened the door to so many new ideas. Students are starting conversations with \"What if we...\" or \"I think we could...\" as they explore new ideas. We have had thoughtful debates about why certain creations would or would not work, and it has been incredible to watch their problem solving and creativity shine. Next, students plan to create classroom fidgets, custom math dice, and other useful tools. Their excitement and curiosity have been the best part, and I can already see how this experience is helping them think like engineers and inventors.\r\n\r\nWe are truly just at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what this technology can do. As I become more familiar with the printer, I am eager to see where it takes us. I have already started planning a day for our school's robotics team to meet and work with the third graders, which I know will inspire them even more. Some students who are usually quiet in class have really come out of their shells through this project. Their conversations now revolve around ideas, design challenges, and possibilities. I am so thankful for this gift and the lasting impact it will have on my students' learning and imagination.","fullyFundedDate":1755440413794,"projectUrl":"project/imagine-it-invent-it/9441476/","projectTitle":"Imagine It, Invent It!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kochie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4807005_orig.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751373360129","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4807005"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_75704","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":295,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":29,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":93,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":74.2,"schoolId":75704,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Caledonia Area Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Caledonia Area Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/caledonia-independent-school-district-299/caledonia-area-elementary-school/75704"}
