Storyworks Jr. magazine will be a fun and new way for me to engage students in English Language Arts. The articles, activities, and videos are relevant and meaningful to a third grader. Each magazine features fiction and nonfiction articles, reader’s theater plays, poetry, and the articles are interdisciplinary hitting on science and social studies topics all at the same time. Storyworks Jr. would be used by students on a daily basis instead of standard text books. Not only do the articles pull the students in and engage them as young readers, they make would make teaching English Language Arts, fun and exciting for me, as well. The magazines are aligned to standards to help prepare students for state tests, they offer amazing visuals and videos for the students, they provided differentiated reading levels to ensure each students can be successful at their own reading level, and a teacher’s guide is provided to help ensure I use each issue and the website to its fullest potential. I can envision nothing but enthusiasm from the students if they had the opportunity to work with this resource this school year. Each magazine offers so much potential to engage my learners in new ways that they have never experienced before. I truly believe this magazine could help my students grow as individuals both inside and outside of the classroom, and I would love to provide them with that opportunity.
