Items such as the bouncy band, sensory light fish bubbler, water tubes, marble maze fidgets, TheraPutty, calming stickers, Pop-It fidget toys, and ABC sensory toys give students a variety of options to meet their individual sensory and regulation needs. Having access to these tools in our resource room has created a calming and supportive environment where students can safely use sensory strategies when they are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated, or dysregulated.\r\n\r\nThese materials have been especially valuable during times of crisis or significant dysregulation. Students have been able to select or be offered an appropriate sensory tool, use it to help calm their bodies and emotions, and then successfully return to a regulated state. In many instances, students have been able to calm down much more quickly and return to their classrooms ready to learn. The ability to provide immediate access to these tools has helped reduce the amount of instructional time students miss while supporting their ability to practice appropriate coping and self-regulation strategies.\r\n\r\nOverall, the generous support of our donors has provided my students with practical tools that help them manage their emotions and sensory needs throughout the school day. These resources have not only supported students during challenging moments but have also helped them develop important skills for recognizing their needs, using appropriate coping strategies, and returning to learning.
