After unpacking the boxes, my students were over the moon! They were so excited to have new paints, stickers, and glue sticks.\r\n\r\nOne of the first projects we did was to decorate the first letter of each student's first name. They enjoyed creating their own letter with a collage of materials including paint, stickers, glitter, and feathers. Each letter came out so unique and the students were so proud to show their letters to each other when they were done. We hung the letters up in our room and the kids loved to go over and look at all the different letter collages created. \r\n\r\nDuring one of our choice times, students had the opportunity to create underwater scenes using paper plates, stickers, and torn paper. The class had so much fun ripping the paper to create seaweed and using the glue sticks to make them stick to the plates. Then they picked out just the right fish stickers for their scene. These were a class favorite, and many students could not wait to take them home to share with their family. When given the option to hang up or take home most of the students choose to take their projects home to share with their families. \r\n\r\nI am so grateful for the materials that you helped provide for my students, so they had opportunities like these! I love seeing their creativity and watching them grow more confident as they show their work to their friends and hear from their peers what great job they did. As this year comes to an end it was wonderful to have some new materials to finish out the year and to have fresh supplies to start in the fall. The folders are used to communicate with parents; these are sturdy enough to last all year. The rest time bags are used to hold students' pillows and blankets and the occasional support-stuffy from home. Cardstock paper is used for projects, painting and creating. \r\n\r\nMy program is federally-funded and we aren't allowed to ask families to bring anything in. Therefore, most of what is in my classroom has been purchased with my own money. Although, I am happy to do this, it also gets expensive to keep up with the needs.\r\n\r\nI wish you could see, firsthand, how much your donations mean to us but since you can't, I hope this thank you reaches your heart.","fullyFundedDate":1733258099077,"projectUrl":"project/the-gift-that-keeps-on-giving/8515108/","projectTitle":"The Gift That Keeps on Giving!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schleyer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7678614_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1694201016226","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7678614"},{"teacherId":5536561,"projectId":8619970,"letterContent":"The kids have loved having fresh supplies to learn and create with! We have been working hard learning to write our name, identify our letters, and improve our scissors skills. One of our favorite new supplies are the paint sticks! We used them to create mittens to hang up in our classroom. I loved how the students used the paint sticks to create similar patterns on each mitten. The class also loves using the paint sticks in our art center to create their own drawings and collages with the new paper pack. The paint sticks are easy for the kids to use, dry quickly, and are quick to clean up with water and paper towel. We have also added the scissors to our art center so all students can improve their scissors skills. Thank you for helping us refresh our supplies and add some much needed resources.
