Students are able to practice phonics, decoding, fluency, and comprehension skills in meaningful and hands-on ways. For a struggling reader, successfully decoding a new word, reading a passage more fluently, or realizing they can read a book independently is a huge accomplishment. Our students always look forward to the days the puzzles are out and available to solve. They are always asking if we can have \"puzzle Friday\". The project included decodable books as well. These have been great for students who are still practicing their foundational reading skills. The books I requested for this project were out of my budget, and it was such a blessing to receive them! \r\n\r\nOf course the supplies were put to use right away. We don't realize how fast we go through them until they are gone! So having more basic classroom supplies on hand has been very helpful and takes the stress off of us!\r\n\r\nWhile this isn't an art room, we still love to embed some projects throughout the year. The project you helped fund included paint. Students who receive special education services from myself and the other resource teachers have used these hygiene supplies to help create a positive morning routine for our students. \r\nOur students loved picking out their own color toothbrush, hair brush, and deodorant. Some of them said they have never shopped for these items before! \r\n\r\nFloss, hair ties, and body wipes have also been put to good use. I can tell the students are more confident after they brush their hair and teeth. Some of them do styles and help each other. It's special to see how this hygiene routine has helped our students gain confidence in the classroom. Something so simple to us can make some students feel like a million bucks. \r\n\r\nI genuinely thank you for helping make this project come to life.
