They have been beyond excited to receive so much support from people who believe in their mission. The donations also helped solidify their confidence in the formation of the HSU and the new traditions they are building at SHS.\r\n\r\nAs the group continues to gather resources, we have been able to supply the entire school with the fun of a tiger Santa Piñata at the Christmas assembly as students took a break from exams. The laughter of the entire student body watching kids take a blindfolded swing was priceless. \r\n \r\nWe were also able to use our resources to enter an HSU tree in the Christmas tree decorating contest. The tree earned first place and the kids won a pizza party. \r\n\r\nWe also found out that the neighboring school district recently formed a Latin Roots Club. The club is new and greatly influenced by the actions of the HSU in Shelby. The impact these kids are making in their community certainly has exceeded many expectations and they continue to plan events throughout the school year. Their next project has been requested by the Shelby Public library to showcase our diverse community.
