We are looking forward to using these puppets soon after the state testing is done in April. The students have asked several times, if it's time to get the puppets out yet. They are anxiously anticipating the day when we can finally begin this project. \r\n As the packages were arriving filled with very cool puppets, my students were so excited to get started with writing, planning, and implementing our puppet shows. I had to tell them that we have to wait until after the state testing to have our fun with the puppets. They were disappointed, but also understanding. Before putting them safely away for a couple of months, I let the students have some free play with the puppets. I was surprised and amazed at the creativity, collaboration, and interest that took place just during that short time. \r\n In April, we will get started with our Puppet Show Project. The students will work together to create a story, transform it into a puppet show script, and practice the performance of the show. They will use their collaboration and teamwork skills as they work closely together to make these stories come to life. They will design and build the backdrop and scenery to go along with their story. The goal is for the students to perform these puppet shows for the preschoolers at the daycare center located across the street from our school. \r\n Thanks to your donations towards this project, we are able to take technology out of the hands of our students for a little while, and tap into their hands-on creativity as they dive into this project. We have been able to cook on a weekly basis with the supplies provided. My students are using Able 2 learn step by step visual cooking recipes along with the resource from this project to learn how to make easy meals on their own. \r\nThe students have made grilled cheese, dirt pudding, spaghetti, mashed potatoes and gravy so far with many more recipes to go. This is the highlight of our week. Students use the flexible seating options to complete classwork, silent read, or quietly discuss with their peers about a concept that was addressed in class.\r\n\r\nThese resources have helped establish a safe learning environment for my students.
