My students were so excited to see all the books out of their boxes and organized on the shelves!\r\n\r\nAt the start of February, we began our independent book study where students can pick their own book to read and discuss throughout the entire month. The shelves allowed students to more easily select which book to read. No longer did they have to dig through boxes to find a book that caught their attention!\r\n\r\nI was then able to assign a specific shelf to each hour, so that students could quickly find their book at the start of every class. Now, when I tell my students to get out their independent reading books, there are much less eye rolls and sighs of annoyance. I have also noticed some students pursuing the shelves in their free time to see what other books there are. Hopefully, as a result of the generosity of the donors and this program, we will leave the school year with more 'readers' than we started.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you so much for donating to my project.
