As a result, all 2nd and 3rd grade students are playing the ukulele in class for a two-month long ukulele unit, a small group of students meet after school for a new weekly ukulele club, and Kindergarten and 1st grade students are doing hands on exploration of a stringed instrument. None of this was possible before your donation. So far, the ukulele club has been a HUGE success at our school. It has gotten to the point where next year I will most likely need to have extra adult help because of how high student interest is. The students are able to learn so quickly because they can all play on their own instrument now due to the resources provided by you. \r\n\r\nAdditionally, students were amazed when they saw the new instruments in our classroom. They were excited, curious, and hopeful that they would get the chance to use them. The ukuleles are on display in the classroom so they are accessible for quick transitions and the younger students are excited to play them as they move up to 2nd and 3rd grade. Overall, our students were thrilled that someone supported our school with these new materials. They look forward to every single opportunity they get to use them. \r\n\r\nUsing the new materials funded by Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation, we have had ample new opportunities for students in our music program. The next steps with the ukuleles and other musical supplies include the 3rd graders doing a \"Jimmy Fallon & the Roots\" style classroom instrument project in the spring. They will have small groups and each student group will create an arrangement to a song of their choice using the ukuleles, and other instruments in our space. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your wonderful contribution to our youngest musicians.
